On 13 March 2017, the Institute hosted a full-day arbitration training workshop for a group of senior arbitration lawyers from Russia. The Russian visitors were on this island for a few days on a goodwill and education mission to explore matters relating to international arbitration practice in Singapore. The visit was led by Mr. Andrey Gorlenko, Executive Administrator of the Institute of Modern Arbitration in Moscow, and included Ms Anna Grishchenkova, Mr. Alexander Molotnikov, Dr. Dmitry Stepanov, Prof. Anton V. Asoskov and Mr. Ilya Rachkov. The trainers from SIArb (comprising Mr. Chan Leng Sun SC, Mr. Naresh Mahtani, Mr. Johnny Tan, Mr. Dinesh Dhillon and Mr. Mohan Pillay, together with Mr. Kevin Nash, Deputy Registrar & Centre Director of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre) treated the visitors to a structured program consisting of case updates, latest developments and discussions on arbitration practice in Singapore. Likewise, it was a great opportunity for us to learn about arbitration practice and developments in Russia and to make friends with the participants; and we look forward to continued contact with them.
