heah Yew Kuin is Principal Counsel, Anti-Piracy – Digital Me
dia, The Walt Disney Company. He presently oversees a range of anti-piracy
matters in the Asia Pacific Region and regularly works with industry associ
ations and local authorities to develop strategies to take action against c
ontent piracy. He is also an Associate Lecturer at the Singapore University
of Social Science. Prior his current role, Yew Kuin was practicing in an I
nternational Law Firm and has over a decade of experience in dealing with c
ontentious and commercial IP matters. | |
Dr. Jean Ho, FCIArb is Associate Professor of Law at the National University of Singapo
re. Fluent in French and Mandarin, Dr Ho was educated at New York Universit
y, l’Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) and Camb
ridge University. Dr. Ho is the sole author of State Responsibility for Bre
aches of Investment Contracts, and principal co-author of International Inv
estment Law and Arbitration, both by Cambridge University Press. Dr. Ho is
currently working on her third book, Investors’ International Law, fo
rthcoming with Hart Publishing. She is a Member of the BIICL Investment Tre
aty Forum, a Founding Member of the IEL Collective, a Member of the Editori
al Advisory Board of the Asian International Arbitration Journal, and was n
ominated by the US Department of State as an Expert to the UNIDROIT Working
Group on Agricultural Land Investment Contracts. |
&nbs p; | Dr. Stanley Lai SC is the Head of Allen & Gledhill’s Intellectual Property Pra
ctice. He specialises in all forms of IP litigation and information technol
ogy disputes, and is also a commercial/chancery litigator. Stanley has also
appeared in arbitrations both as arbitrator and counsel. He maintains a st
rong advisory practice for IP/data management and cybersecurity, serving a
broad spectrum of clients. He also represents clients in investigations tha
t are undertaken by the various agencies. In the biomedical and pharmaceuti
cal sectors, Stanley has substantial experience in advising on healthcare a
nd medical IP and regulatory issues concerning medicines, generics, patent
linkage, bio-similars, medical devices, clinical trials, product recalls an
d product liability. Stanley is currently the Chairman of the Intellectual
Property Office of Singapore. Stanley is also a member of the Singapore Int
ernational Arbitration Centre IP Panel and Singapore Copyright Tribunal. He
also serves as a Principal Mediator of the Singapore Mediation Centre. He
has published extensively on IP and information technology law, including t
he book entitled “The Copyright Protection of Computer Software in th
e United Kingdom” |
Mr. Mark Li
m is a Director and Chief Legal Counsel at IPOS (the Intellectual
Property Office of Singapore), where he heads the Hearings team. He has mor
e than 25 years of experience in intellectual property law. For a few years
, he was also involved in several international arbitration proceedings Mark has published many articles in both local and international law jour nals, including a couple on international arbitration. He is a co-author of the chapter on Copyright in Halsbury's Laws of Singapore: Volume 13(3) - I ntellectual property (2007 & 2018 Reissue, Lexis-Nexis, Singapore). He also co-teaches the module on Foundations of IP Law at the National Univers ity of Singapore’s Faculty of Law, where he covers the section on pat ents. |
About the Moderator
Mr. Yu-Jin Tay is a partner in Mayer Brown’s Singapore office and head of the int ernational arbitration practice in Asia. He has practised in Singapore, Lon don, Paris and Washington DC and has over 20 years of specialist arbitratio n experience across a wide range of sectors including energy, natural resou rces, technology and manufacturing, construction and infrastructure and inv estment treaty arbitration, involving the world’s leading arbitral se ats and institutions. Since 2001, he has practised investment treaty arbitr ation and in 2013 was designated to ICSID's Panels of Arbitrators and Conci liators. Yu-Jin was one among four Asian lawyers featured in Global Arbitra tion Review's global 45 under 45 ranking and has been ranked among the top partners in Arbitration: Future Leaders for consecutive years. He is listed annually as leading individual in legal directories including GAR's Intern ational Who's Who (since 2010), in the Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, I ndia and Asia-wide chapters of Chambers Asia-Pacific and Legal 500 (since 2 008). In addition to counsel work, Yu-Jin sits regularly as presiding, sole and co-arbitrator in ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, LCIA, VIAC and ad hoc arbitrations. | Mr. Dinesh Dhillon is the Co-Head of the Allen & Gledhill’s International Arbitration practice. He has acted as lead c ounsel in international arbitration for global multinational corporations i n the telecommunications, airline, hotel, commodities, construction, manufa cturing and projects industries. He has also represented sovereign states i n international arbitration cases. He has represented clients in landmark c ases before the Singapore courts relating to jurisdiction of arbitral tribu nals, challenges to arbitration awards and attempts to resist enforcement o f foreign arbitration awards. Dinesh has represented multinational companie s in cases before the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC), Sing apore High Court and Court of Appeal.
