SIArb Young Practitioners Network Mentoring Programme (25 May – 31 December 2023)
Following the success of the Annual Careers Roundtable (which has been fully subscribed over the last two years and attended by many aspiring young arbitration practitioners), the Young Practitioners Network (YPN) of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) launched its inaugural Mentoring Programme (the “Programme”) on 25 May 2023.
As part of the Programme, 25 young professionals with a Singapore connection or who had expressed a strong interest in Singapore, as a jurisdiction, that were keen to expand their arbitration experience were selected to form the pool of mentees…
SIArb’s Annual Commercial Arbitration Symposium and Annual Dinner (29 November 2023)
The end of November saw SIArb’s flagship Commercial Arbitration Symposium and Annual Dinner held, as in the previous year, on the same day, enabling members and guests to engage in an afternoon of debate on the latest arbitration developments followed by an evening of sociable networking with friends and colleagues.
Held again in the Old Parliamentary debating chamber at The Arts House, the Symposium attracted a range of practitioners from Singapore, Asia and further afield…

SIArb Annual Debate 2023 “This House Believes That AI Arbitrators Will Eliminate Cultural Biases In International Arbitrations” (7 December 2023)
AI has been the talk of the town this year — from Harvey AI being able to output a memo in mere seconds to OpenAI’s GPT 4 passing the bar exams in the top 10 per cent. In this context, AI’s newfound “expertise” was put to the test in SIArb’s Annual Debate 2023.

The SIArb Newsletter is a publication of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators aimed to be an educational resource for members and associated organisations and institutions of higher learning. Readers of the newsletter are welcome to submit to the Secretariat at secretariat@siarb.org.sg well-researched manuscripts of merit relating to the subject matter of arbitration and dispute resolution. Submissions should be unpublished works between 1,500 to 2,500 words and are subject to the review of the editorial team.
