The Institute was honoured to host a seminar presented by Sir Vivian Ramsey and Mr Mohan Pillay who shared valuable insights on the role of the Singapore International Commercial Court (“SICC“) in international dispute resolution.

The eminent speakers provided an overview of the SICC framework and considered the advantages of SICC over arbitration and vice versa. In view of the establishment of commercial courts in a number of jurisdictions in recent years, they also considered the challenge this has presented for arbitration.

The speakers concluded that commercial courts and arbitration are complementary, as each fulfilled a need for the end-user of the respective process.
