About this Seminar:

At this Pre-AGM talk, the speaker, Ms Tan Ai Leen, will provide a detailed explanation on SIAC’s processes with regard to the commencement of arbitrations at the SIAC, appointment of arbitrators, emergency arbitrator procedures, scrutiny of awards and cost determinations.

About the Speaker: Tan Ai Leen is the Registrar of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”). Ms Tan heads the legal team of SIAC, which has charge of the administration of all cases filed with SIAC. In addition, under the International Arbitration Act of Singapore, she is the statutory authority for the assessment of arbitration costs. Since 1998, Ms Tan has worked as an international arbitration lawyer in various international law firms where she handled construction and investment arbitration disputes. She was most recently a senior litigation counsel with a multinational corporation based in Singapore, having charge of all litigation and dispute-related matters in Asia. Ms Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1997. 

About the Chairperson: Naresh Mahtani, FSiArb, FCiArb, has been in legal practice for 30 years, in dispute resolution and in regional and international construction and oil and gas projects as counsel as well as arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator in various cases in Singapore and the region. He was Chairman of the Society of Construction Law, Singapore (2006-2008) and is currently the Hon. Secretary of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. Amongst his other past appointments, he was a founding partner of ATMD Bird & Bird LLP; and is currently a Partner with ELDAN Law LLC, with an active practice in dispute resolution and construction projects.
