About the seminar: Mr. Richard Naimark, as a senior vice-president of the largest ADR provider in the world, will explore in-depth into the thinking and decision making process of arbitrators. He will also share many dynamic factors fundamentally affecting the many arbitrators in determining the outcome of cases. Mr. Naimark hopes that the talk will be refreshing, reaffirming and challenging for arbitrators in Singapore. Mr. Naimark will also share his view on Singaporean lawyers and arbitrators as international players and their promising place in international ADR.  

About the Speaker:

Richard W. Naimark is a Senior Vice President of American Arbitration Association in charge of its international division, the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). He is also the founder and former Executive Director of the Global Center for Dispute Resolution Research, which conducted research in arbitration and ADR for business disputes in cross-border transactions. He is an experienced mediator and facilitator, having served as a neutral in a wide variety of business and organizational settings. Mr. Naimark is also responsible for legislative monitoring functions. Since joining the Association in 1975, Mr. Naimark has conducted hundreds of seminars and training programs on dispute resolution and is co-editor of the book Toward a Science of International Arbitration. 

About the Chairman:

Chow Kok Fong is a Chartered Arbitrator and Chartered Quantity Surveyor. At present he practices as a mediator, arbitrator and adjudicator. Since 1990, he has been appointed for more than 160 arbitration, adjudication and mediation references in Asia. He has undertaken management consulting work for multi-lateral agencies such as the World Bank and leading international companies. Until October 2008, he was Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airports International. Earlier he was Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Development Board, now the Building and Construction Authority following which he held senior management appointments with City Developments and Capitaland. Mr. Chow is the founder President of the Society of Project Managers and was Chairman of the Society of Construction Law. Currently, he is also on the board of the Singapore Mediation Centre and Chairman of the Accreditation Committee for Construction Adjudicators. Mr. Chow has authored 8 books on construction law, joint ventures and the economics of the construction industry including the Law and Practice of Construction Contracts (which had gone into its 3rd Edition), Security of Payments and Construction Adjudication and Construction Contracts Dictionary and is one of the General Editors of the Singapore Construction Adjudication Review.
